The God of the Bible is the same today: when his people cried unto him by reason of their tormentors, he raised up deliverers. Expect this in days to come as Israel faces bloodthirsty enemies on many fronts!
Judges 3:9, 10
And when the children of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them… The Book of Judges mentions 12 leaders who were saviors in Israel: Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon, Tola, Jair, Jephthah, Ibzan, Elon, Abdon and the strongman Samson.
The jihadists are the proverbial thorns in the sides of the Israelis. We see in the Bible in the Book of Judges 3: 9, “But when they cried out to the LORD, he raised up for them a deliverer מוֹשִׁ֛יעַ” --Hebrew moshia; LXX., "a saviour.”
"So you handed them over to their enemies, who made them suffer. But in their time of trouble they cried to you, and you heard them from heaven. In your great mercy, you sent them liberators who rescued them from their enemies..” (Nehemiah 9:27 New Living Translation).
"Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses.” (Psalm 107:13)
The commentaries teach us that:
I. GREAT MEN AND WOMEN ARE NEEDED BY THE WORLD AND OWE THEIR GREATNESS TO GOD. Many of the biblical judges sprang from obscure families; they were not hereditary rulers, but men (and a woman, Deborah) sent of God with individual vocations. Othniel meaning God’s lion belonged to the honourable family of Caleb, but even he is described as owing his greatness to God.
1. THE MISSION OF GREAT MEN AND WOMEN VARIES ACCORDING TO THE NEEDS OF THEIR AGE. They are sent by God. When the people "cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer." Whoever believes in Providence will recognize that such individuals are "raised up" by God.
2. THEIR POWERS COME FROM GOD. The Spirit of the Lord came upon the judge Othniel. The Spirit of the Lord came upon the strongman Samson. They became lion-like men of war, under the influence of God's spirit, a living prophecy of the Lion of Judah (Revelation 5: 5), the Saviour of the world.

We are living in similar days as in the Book of Judges “when everyone did what seemed right in his own eyes.” When things were bad, they cried out but when things were good they forgot
God. Oh God, forgive us for not learning from your word that was given to us to learn and exhort.
